Rochester Road totally rocks.  If you live in L.A., where the band comes from, be sure to catch them live.
Johnathan and I were lucky enough to hear them as they passed through Mishawaka in November 2007.
They were on their way to some performances in Chicago.  Lucky Chicago-- this band is awesome live.
Rochester Road's sound is funky jam band, somewhere between Phish and (better still) the Red Hot Chili
Peppers.  Their lyrics fall somewhere between '90s-Grunge-style non-literal imagery and soul-searching
introspection.  Songs like "Keep It Around" and "Circus of Freaks" are high-energy jamfests.
The band's self-titled first album is a bit of a different animal than their live show.  It's less improvisational
and more mellow.  It's almost a Matchbox 20 kind of pop-rock sound.  I like this album, but hope the upcoming
second one is closer to the sound of what I heard at the
Beanery that night.
The members of Rochester Road are Billy Dim, Jordan Diamond, Hawkeye Bronstein, Jamie Evans and
Mark Tulin. You can find them online at their official homepage,
rochesterroad.com, . Check them out.
